Lori Santa Maria, Pre-licensed Counselor

Dear Hiring Manager,

I’m excited to reach out and express my interest in the Licensed Associate Counselor position at your organization. I am passionate about supporting individuals through life’s challenges and transitions, and I am committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care that fosters resilience, growth, and meaningful change.

In my work, I help adults navigate a wide range of life transitions — from anxiety and depression to job loss, divorce, and the uncertainty that can come with midlife shifts. I also really enjoy working with teens and young adults, especially helping them build confidence and manage performance anxiety in sports. No matter the situation, I strive to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them as they work toward growth and healing.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and  genuine. I want clients to feel comfortable being themselves, without fear of judgment. I draw from a variety of evidence-based practices, including CBT, SFBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and ERP, and I tailor each session to fit the individual. Together, we focus on building practical coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and making meaningful, lasting changes.

I am currently completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University while earning supervised clinical hours. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Arizona State University. My background as a collegiate athlete and coach has shaped how I connect with clients — especially around performance, resilience, and personal growth. I currently practice under the supervision of Taylor Oberhelman-McLeod, M.A., LPC, and Diana Canfield, M.S., LPC, as approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

I would truly love the opportunity to be part of your team and contribute to the important work you do. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my resume — I appreciate your consideration and hope to connect with you soon.

Warmly,

Lori Santa Maria
