Acceptance
Acceptance as a therapist is meeting your client where they are and giving them a non-judgemental safe space to share their experiences and presenting problems. This counseling disposition is one that feels natural to me and over time I have experienced with some clients the correlation with their culture and how it has played a part in their stories and who they are today.

As a clinician embracing people for who they are is imperative to building a trusting relationship with the client and creating and implementing a successful treatment plan. I build this into my practice by incorporating several factors to check my decision-making, attitude and behavior.
1) I attend supervision weekly both individual and group for case consultation
2) I conduct research and implement evidenced-based assessments to diagnosis or rule out diagnosis
3) I seek clarification from clients and discuss diagnosis, treatment plans and any factors that should be identified and
incorporated.
4) I conduct research based on client's cultural experience to increase knowledge
